چکیده

Objectives: The objectives of the study were to assess technical success, efficacy, and complications combination transarterial embolization (TAE) followed by percutaneous ablation in treating stage cT1b central renal tumors. Material Methods: An institutional registry was reviewed for patients who underwent TAE computed tomography (CT)-guided from 2007 2018. Twenty-eight consecutive (median age 69 years; range 45–89 years) with tumor size ranging 25 58 mm (average 45 mm), including 24 T1b tumors four T1a tumors, identified. Nineteen had cryoablation (CA), nine radiofrequency (RFA). Technical local control, post-procedure retrospectively reviewed. Results: All procedures technically successful. Local control achieved 26 28 (92.9%) at a median follow-up months. recurrence found two patients, time 15 recurrences occurred one patient plus CA RFA. Self-limited hematoma hematuria minor observed 3 (10.7%). Only major complication. This developed ureteral obstruction perirenal abscess requiring stent drainage without long-term sequela. Conclusion: In this cohort CT-guided an effective, well-tolerated, safe treatment

Image-Guided Percutaneous Ablation of Renal Tumors

Renal tumors account for more than 50,000 new cases annually in the United States with a rising incidence (Chow et al., 1999). This is mainly because of an increase in diagnosis due to widespread use of cross-sectional imaging (Pantuck et al., 2001). Renal cell carcinoma constitutes 4% of all adult malignancies (American Cancer Society, 2008) and about 70 to 80 percent of patients presenting wi...

Image-guided percutaneous renal cryoablation for stage 1 renal cell carcinoma with high surgical risk

BACKGROUND This study was undertaken to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and therapeutic effects of percutaneous renal cryoablation under local anesthesia with conscious sedation for patients who have unresectable stage 1 (T1NoMo) renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in high surgical risk. METHODS Eighteen patients who were not candidates for surgery underwent primary cryosurgery guided by gray-scale ...

PET and MRI-guided focused ultrasound surgery for hypoxic-tissue ablation combined with radiotherapy in solid tumors

Background: The rationale was to develop an ablation approach to destroy regions of tumor resistant to radiation and thus reduce the time required for whole tumor ablation, while improving overall tumor control after radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: The system is composed of a micro positron emission tomography (mPET), 7T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and a customized MRI-compatible foc...
